I am a 33-year old freelance translator, editor and proofreader situated in Helsinki, Finland. I began my career in the aforementioned fields in 2008, and have been actively working in them ever since. As regards translation work, my primary focus has been on fiction and science. However, I have also translated non-fiction publications, subtitles and manuals. I am capable of carrying out projects that require a significant investment of time, as I am always fully committed to the projects I am working on. As a freelancer, I find excellence in the quality of my work to be as important to myself as a professional, as it is for my clients.<\/p>\n
Work Experience and Academic Qualifications<\/p>\n
Academic Qualifications: I have Master’s degree in German Philology with Political Studies as a minor. During my studies, my primary academic focus was on German cultural history, as well as on German literature.<\/p>\n
As a Freelance translator and Editor: From 2008 onwards, I have translated, edited or summarized several fiction novels for the Jalava, Like and Arthouse publishing companies, as well as non-fiction novels for Minerva Publishing Ltd. As a result of said translation and editing projects I have become familiar with the work- and business operation of several different publishers, and have thus been able to accommodate the wishes of said publishers to a full extent. During these eleven years I have honed my Finnish to an impeccable degree, and have widened my professional language capabilities to include four different languages. (cf. translation work)<\/p>\n
In addition I have since 2016 completed a range of project oriented translation of over 1 000 000 words in German, English, Swedish and French to companies such as MG&Partner, TransPerfect, EasyTranslate, Wordminds, Solten Group.<\/p>\n
As the Secretary of the Finnish-Austrian Friendship Association: In 2014 I acted as the hired(\/professional) secretary of the Finnish-Austrian Friendship Association, which allowed myself an opportunity to further develop my co-operational skills in an international working environment. The position\u2019s duties were focused primarily on communications and scheduling.<\/p>\n
